What a Clio AI voice agent can do
Open one to watch a call. The grey lines are the tools the agent calls mid-sentence.
The agent asks the questions on your intake form and stores the answers on the new matter, in the caller's own words.
Names of adverse parties go in exactly as the caller gives them, so your staff can run conflicts before anyone calls back.
Calls about court dates and detention go to the on-call attorney right away, instead of waiting in the intake queue.

Clio AI voice agent FAQs
Can an AI receptionist do client intake into Clio?
Yes. A Cartesia agent asks your intake questions, then a webhook tool calls a service of yours that holds Clio's OAuth tokens and creates the contact and matter in Clio. The caller's answers go on the matter in their own words. There is no native Clio connector.
Which AI receptionists work with Clio?
Clio's App Directory lists third-party receptionists, such as Clerx AI and Upfirst, that log calls and leads into Clio. A Cartesia agent is the build-your-own option: you write the intake questions, choose the voice and model, and your service decides what lands in Clio.
Can the agent run a conflict check?
It collects the details for one. The agent records adverse parties' names exactly as the caller gives them, so staff can run conflicts in Clio before anyone calls back. It doesn't clear conflicts itself.
Will an AI receptionist give legal advice?
No, if your instructions say so, and this page's do. The agent says plainly that a person gives advice. Check recording consent and client-confidentiality rules in your jurisdiction with your bar's guidance, and have an attorney sign off on test calls.
Can the agent see existing Clio matters?
Only if your service exposes a lookup. For new-client intake it is safer not to, so the agent can't read one client's matter to another caller. Urgent calls about court dates or detention go to the on-call attorney by transfer.
