Voice AI templates
and example apps

Open-source code for an AI phone receptionist, a browser voice agent, live translation, podcasts, audiobooks and more. Run one on your machine, deploy it, or hand it to your coding agent.

Questions

What is the Cartesia cookbook?

A set of open-source apps and templates built on Cartesia Sonic for text to speech, Ink for speech to text and Managed Agents for voice agents.

Do I need to pay to use the templates?

The templates are free and open source. You pay for the Cartesia API usage on your own key, and for your LLM provider in the templates that call one. New Cartesia accounts start on the free plan.

Which language model do the templates use?

Templates that call an LLM directly use the AI SDK and read the model from LLM_MODEL, written as provider/model, so you can use OpenAI, Anthropic or any model on the Vercel AI Gateway. Templates built on Managed Agents set the agent's LLM with AGENT_MODEL_ID.

Can I use these with Python?

Yes. Ebook to audiobook, Front desk and Coding voice mode are Python templates. The TypeScript templates use @cartesia/cartesia-js, and the cartesia Python package has the same calls.

Can a coding agent build these for me?

Yes. Every page has a prompt you can copy or open in Claude Code, Cursor or Codex. It points the agent at the template and its AGENTS.md, which lists the commands, the files and the rules for that template.
