Webhook tool

monday.com AI voice agents that turn each call into a board item

The agent takes the call, and a webhook tool sends the caller, their number and the request to a service of yours, which adds an item to your board.

Request intake agent

Takes requests by phone and adds them to a monday.com board.

Instructions

Ask for the caller's name and what they need. Decide how urgent it is from what they say. Before the call ends, create the item with a short title for the request and one or two sentences of detail, then tell the caller it is logged.

What a monday.com AI voice agent can do

Open one to watch a call. The grey lines are the tools the agent calls mid-sentence.

Each call becomes an item in the group you choose, named for the request, with the caller's name, number and urgency in columns.

Tool definitions

Webhook tools go to POST /v1/agents/tools. Transfers are a system tool on the agent. Replace the placeholder values in capitals with your own.

Set it up

No native connector. The tool calls a service of yours, which holds a monday.com API token and runs the create_item mutation on the GraphQL API. Vendor details read in November 2026.

  1. Copy an API token

In monday.com, open your profile picture, then Developers, then API token, and select Show. Store the token in your service.

  2. Find the board and columns

Note the board ID, the group ID new items go into, and the IDs of the phone, status and text columns the service fills.

  3. Run the create endpoint

Your service sends the create_item mutation to https://api.monday.com/v2 with board_id, group_id, item_name and column_values, and the token in the Authorization header.

  4. Add the tool and test

Point the tool at your service with a bearer secret, call the agent with a request, and check the new item on the board.

Before you build

Why a service in the middle

column_values is a JSON string inside the mutation. A webhook tool fills a whole field from system__caller_id, so it can't build that string.

Check your daily call limit

monday.com caps API calls per day by plan, from 200 on Free and 1,000 on Standard and Basic to 25,000 on Enterprise. One call per phone call counts against it.

Phone column format

In column_values, a phone column takes {"phone":"+12025550169","countryShortName":"US"} under its column ID. The country code is an uppercase ISO-2 code.

Use a dedicated account's token

A personal token can do whatever its account can, and regenerating it breaks the old one at once. A dedicated account limits both problems.

monday.com AI voice agent FAQs

Does monday.com have an AI voice agent?

monday CRM has an AI Sales Agent that places outbound calls. monday.com's support docs list it as a US-only beta that takes no inbound calls and cannot transfer to a person. A Cartesia agent answers inbound calls and adds an item to your board for each one.

How does the agent create a monday.com item?

A Cartesia webhook tool sends the request to a service of yours, which runs the create_item mutation on https://api.monday.com/v2 with the board ID, group ID, item name and column values. There is no native monday.com integration.

Why does the monday.com setup need a service?

column_values is a JSON string inside the mutation, and the phone number has to go inside it. A webhook tool can fill a whole field from system__caller_id but can't place it inside a string, so your service builds column_values.

Will calls use up my monday.com API limit?

Each phone call uses one API call. monday.com caps API calls per day by plan, from 200 on Free and 1,000 on Standard and Basic to 25,000 on Enterprise, so check the cap for your plan against your call volume.

Can the agent update an item it already created?

Only if your service keeps the item ID and exposes a second endpoint for it. The tool on this page only creates items.

How much does a voice agent that logs to monday.com cost?

Agents run at $0.03/min, plus LLM usage and telephony. You also host the service that calls monday.com, and each call counts against your daily API limit there.
