Watermarking FAQ

Where can I find more information about watermarking?
Where is my audio stored and processed?

Audio is processed on our servers worldwide, including in the United States, and deleted shortly after the use. Only upload audio you have the right to share.

What formats, lengths, and sizes are supported?

FLAC, M4A, MP3, MP4, MPEG, MPGA, OGA, OGG, WAV, and WebM files between 3 seconds and 5 minutes long, up to 32 MB.

What does the result mean?

Detection is statistical. A positive result means the clip very likely contains a Cartesia watermark. False positives are rare but possible. A negative result means no Cartesia watermark was found. The audio could still be AI-generated by another provider, or heavily edited.

Does it detect all AI-generated audio?

No. It only detects the watermark applied by Cartesia's Sonic-3.6 and newer models. Audio from older Cartesia models or from other companies' models won't be detected.

Do I need an account?

No. The detector is free and open to anyone.
