Podium AI voice agents that text the customer after the call

A Cartesia agent saves each caller as a Podium contact, then has Podium text them a review request or a payment link.

Front desk agent

Answers calls, saves new leads in Podium and sends follow-up texts.

Instructions

Ask the caller's name and what they need, then save them as a lead. If a customer is happy with a finished job, offer a review link and send it only if they agree. If they want to pay, send a payment link. Never take card numbers on the call.

What a Podium AI voice agent can do

Open one to watch a call. The grey lines are the tools the agent calls mid-sentence.

Your service creates the Podium contact and has Podium send a short thank-you text, so the team sees the lead in Podium.

Tool definitions

Webhook tools go to POST /v1/agents/tools. Transfers are a system tool on the agent. Replace the placeholder values in capitals with your own.

Set it up

No native connector. Podium's API uses OAuth 2.0 with tokens that last 10 hours, so the tools call a small service of yours. Vendor details read in November 2026.

  1. Apply for developer access

Apply for a developer account at developer.podium.com. Podium reviews each application, which takes a few days, and emails you when you're approved.

  2. Create and authorize the app

Create an OAuth app with write_contacts, write_messages, write_reviews and write_payments. A Podium user in your organization authorizes it.

  3. Run the service

Your service refreshes tokens and calls POST /v4/contacts, POST /v4/messages, POST /v4/reviews/invites and POST /v4/invoices with your location UID.

  4. Add the tools and test

Point the tools at your service with a bearer secret, then call from your own phone and check the texts arrive from your Podium account.

Before you build

Developer access is reviewed

Podium reviews each developer account application, which takes a few days, and approval comes by email. A Podium user in your organization then authorizes the app.

Make a new review link each time

Podium says not to send one review invite link to several contacts, since that can break reporting and the link. Your service creates one per caller.

Podium sends the text

Cartesia has no SMS action. Your service calls Podium's messages and invoices endpoints, and Podium sends the text from your Podium account.

Invoices pay into a Podium account

A card-not-present invoice texts the customer a payment link. If your service gives no accountUid, Podium uses the most recently created payment account.

Podium AI voice agent FAQs

Does Podium have an AI agent that answers calls?

Yes. Podium's AI Employee answers calls, qualifies callers and books appointments. A Cartesia agent is the alternative when you want your own voice and LLM. It saves the caller as a Podium contact and has Podium text a review request or payment link.

How do I connect Podium to an AI voice agent?

Apply for a Podium developer account, which Podium reviews, then create an OAuth app with write_contacts, write_messages, write_reviews and write_payments. A Podium user in your organization authorizes it, and a small service of yours refreshes the 10-hour tokens and calls Podium's API for the webhook tools.

Does a Podium voice agent need a Podium partnership?

You need an approved Podium developer account and a Podium user in your organization to authorize the app. Podium reviews developer applications before granting access.

Can a Podium voice agent take a payment on the call?

No. The agent sends a Podium payment link, and the caller pays on their own phone. Card numbers never pass through the call. If your service gives no accountUid, Podium uses the most recently created payment account.

Who sends the texts from a Podium voice agent?

Podium sends the review request and payment link from your Podium account. Cartesia has no SMS action. Cartesia bills the agent at $0.03/min, plus LLM usage and telephony.
