Spanish AI receptionist that answers and books in Spanish.
Patients who call the Spanish AI receptionist get an answer in Spanish, a time from your own calendar, and a person when it hurts. Call the sample dental desk to hear it.

Run the front desk in Spanish during office hours
The agent books, moves and confirms visits in Spanish, and hands urgent calls to your staff.
The agent offers only times your calendar returns, asks for the patient's name, reads the day, time and name back, and books once your system confirms.
A patient who can't make their time gets the next open times instead of a voicemail. The agent reads the new time and the name back, then moves the visit.
The agent doesn't judge symptoms. When a caller reports severe pain, swelling or an injury, it transfers to staff right away.
A caller who prefers English can say so mid-call. The agent keeps the day and the name already given.
Spanish at the front desk, by place
What patients expect to hear, and what the law asks you to say, depends on where the office is.
Texas
A Texas law that took effect January 1, 2026 asks health care providers to tell patients when they use AI in relation to a service. Whether a scheduling agent counts is a question for your counsel. The greeting here already says the caller is talking to an AI.
Mexico
If your patients are in Mexico, a recorded voice is personal data. The federal data protection law asks for a privacy notice, and allows a short audio version at the start of the call.
Voices
Cartesia has Mexican and Castilian Spanish voices. Listen to your own script, including patient and street names, before you pick one.
This is not legal advice, and health privacy rules vary by state. Have counsel review your greeting and recording notice before patients call.

Natural turn-taking
The agent lets callers finish, handles interruptions and pauses, and never talks over anyone.
Your choice of LLM and tools
Pick the LLM that is best suited for your agent's job, and give it tools to take action.
A voice that fits your brand
Pick from a library of natural, expressive voices so every call sounds like your company.
Check that every booking is read back
This metric runs on every call and checks that the agent read back the day, time and name before it booked. Staff can replay any call that skipped it.

Spanish AI receptionist FAQs
What is a Spanish AI receptionist?
A voice agent that answers your front desk in Spanish. It books and moves visits from the times your calendar offers, answers office-hours questions, and transfers callers who need a person.
How much does a Spanish AI receptionist cost?
$0.03 per minute of call time, with telephony and LLM usage billed on top. See pricing for the telephony rate.
Can a Spanish AI receptionist book appointments?
Yes, once you connect it to your calendar or booking system with a webhook. The agent offers only the times your system returns.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
Cartesia lists HIPAA compliance on its site, and the Enterprise plan on the pricing page includes BAAs. A patient's name, birth date and reason for the visit are protected health information, so sign a BAA with Cartesia, and with any service your webhooks send that data to, before real patients call. You can also turn off storage of transcripts, recordings and caller numbers for the whole agent.
Can it give medical advice?
No. The agent books and routes calls and doesn't advise on symptoms or treatment. Severe pain, swelling or an injury goes to staff, and trouble breathing gets a 911 instruction.
Does it connect to Dentrix or Open Dental?
Not out of the box, since Cartesia doesn't ship a Dentrix or Open Dental connector. A developer on your side, or one you hire, wires a webhook from the agent's booking tools to your practice system once, and after that the agent reads open times and writes visits through it.
Can the receptionist switch to English?
Yes. Language detection, a beta toggle in the agent's speech settings, lets it hear that a patient switched to English and answer in English, and it covers eight other languages too. Switching it on changes the speech-recognition model to Deepgram Flux, so try a few calls in both languages before patients use it. For a line that serves both from the first word, see the bilingual answering service.
